PLASTIC SURGERY EYEBROW LIFT

Eyebrow Lift
A plastic surgery procedures use to corrects drooping brows, upper eyelids, and sagging skin on the forehead. It is designed to dramatically help improve the horizontal lines and furrows that can make a person appear angry, sad, or tired. A brow lift is commonly performed on patients in the 40 to 60 range, helping to minimize the visible signs of aging.

Duration of the surgery:
1-3 hours.

Hospital/clinic admission:
Outpatient – In most cases

Anesthesia Used:
Local with Sedation
General

Side Effects:
Temporary numbness, discomfort, itching, and swelling. Hair loss may occur along the scar edges. In a rare circumstance, nerves that control eyebrow movements may be injured resulting in a loss of ability to raise the eyebrows or wrinkle the forehead, additional surgery would be required to correct the problem.

Recovery Period:
Patient can go back to work 7 to 10 days after surgery. For patients who undergo endoscopic procedure may return earlier. Vigorous physical activity may resume several weeks. Prolonged exposure to heat or sun limited for several months.

Risks and possible complications:
Rare possibilities of infection and bleeding. Classic lift: loss of sensation along or just beyond the incision line. If complications occur during an endoscopic lift: a surgeon will switch to the classic lift, which will result in a more extensive scar and a longer recovery period (less than 1 percent of all endoscopy procedures.)

Surgery results:
Long-lasting. It can minimize the appearance of aging for years.

Preparation before Surgery:
  • Assessment of the medical history (any allergies, serious medical condition and all medications taken both prescribed and non-prescribed), physical examination, and laboratory tests will be performed during consultation.
  • Smoking must be avoided for about 3-4 weeks prior to surgery, as nicotine interferes with circulation and will greatly affect healing process.
  • You will likely to be asked to stop drinking alcohol, a week before the surgery and throughout your recovery period.
  • Avoid taking any medications such as hormones, anticoagulants, anabolic steroids and supplements at least 4-6 weeks to prevent complicating medical factors prior to surgery. Avoid taking aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs and herbal supplements as they can increase bleeding.
